2021 Secretary

Valentino Nguyen

1. What unique values, skills, events, or traditions will you bring to the table and your position if elected as an ASB officer for your class?
What’s always been my greatest value is my determination. No one is ever born with a natural gift, we all have to put in the necessary determination to master something. Though I may only be running for secretary, I still desire to have a strong leadership role for our class. It is my promise that I will put all of my determination into making next year at South Pasadena High School even better than the last. I’ve demonstrated my determination through my schoolwork, by taking A.P. Chemistry. I have also demonstrated my determination through football by playing on the varsity level. Using my intelligence from school and using my sportsmanship through football, I will work as a team player in the student body. I will make the best ethical decisions with you, my peers, to make next year the best year at your time at South Pasadena High School.

1. What unique values, skills, events, or traditions will you bring to the table and your position if elected as an ASB officer for your class?
Hello! I am Charis Cheung and I’m running to be your Junior Class Secretary. I am inspired to run for secretary because I believe that I have all the qualities that a competent secretary needs. For starters, I am excellent at time management and apart from school, I am able to balance my time with some of my passions like playing violin, photography, singing, and track. Not only that, I’m also good at organization with being efficient in everything I do. I am an excellent planner and this is shown in my zeal of perfection in photography. I like planning photo-shoots and spending hours editing until a picture looks perfect. I also demonstrate discipline in my 10 years of playing violin where I patiently practice every day to perfect a song. As English is my favorite subject, I enjoy writing essays and note-taking; composing thank-you notes, gift cards and letters come second nature to me. Being your student body secretary, you can rely on me to take detailed notes during meetings, listening and conveying your concerns to the student body for the proper actions that need to be carried out smoothly. I collaborate well with others and have the ability to connect people and to enhance and shape our school’s community, while fostering a positive and fun-filled campus spirit.

1. What unique values, skills, events, or traditions will you bring to the table and your position if elected as an ASB officer for your class?
If elected to be an ASB officer for the class of 2021, I would put forth all the skills necessary for my position as Secretary. Besides neat penmanship, I have been able to practice great communication skills. From learning how to communicate with ill people at my grandmothers old home, I feel confident in saying that I can speak well in front of others. Furthermore, from talking to many of them, I have acquired a very important skill, which is the ability to listen to others. I will listen to your concerns, as it could range from issues with ASB, or anything else of the matter. I think that listening can not be anymore relevant to a secretary. As I could just imagine, there ought to be stressful situations, however as I am good at keeping my poise in the toughest of situations, I will keep my head up while collaborating with my fellow ASB officers to make the most logical decisions. Also, I am looking forward to hosting and arranging various events to fundraise for our class or to simply socialize and get to know our fellow classmates. I want you all to know that I am more than excited to be able to be apart of this process, and to have a chance to make a difference, no matter its magnitude. I am looking forward to making our junior year chill!

1. What unique values, skills, events, or traditions will you bring to the table and your position if elected as an ASB officer for your class?
If I become the junior class secretary I will bring lots of positive and helpful ideas to the table. I’m very passionate and determined to make everyone around me happy and I want to make sure my classmates are excited to come to school everyday. Not only am I a good note taker, listener, and planner, I have neat handwriting. Writing and reading are my passion and I can’t wait to share all my ideas with everyone. I’m very in touch with my peers and I know what they want. Tpumps every Friday can get pretty boring, so why not switch it up a bit? Another great skill I have is leadership.
